Prelitigation

Program Overview

The primary purpose of  Prelitigation is to expedite early evaluation and settlement, or other appropriate disposition, of malpractice claims. Prelitigation duties and responsibilities are to provide medical malpractice review panels when properly requested by a party initiating a medical malpractice action.

Prelitigation panels are held electronically through a virtual meeting.

Prelitigation was established in accordance with the Utah Health Care Malpractice Act, located in Utah Code Ann. (1953), as amended, and implemented by the Prelitigation Panel Review Rules located in Title R156, Chapter 78B, Utah Administrative Code.
