Master Addiction and Substance Use Disorder Counseling
Exam Information
There are four license classifications available in the field of addiction and substance-use disorder counseling in Utah: Substance-Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC), Advanced Substance-Use Disorder Counselor (ASUDC), Associate Master Addiction Counselor (AMAC) and Master Addiction Counselor (MAC). Applicants must pass the following exams for their license type before applying.
Substance-Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC)
SUDC applicants must pass one of the following exams:
- NCC AP Exam Level I or II administered by the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC);
- NCC AP Master Addiction Counselor Exam (MAC) administered by NAADAC;
- Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC) Exam administered by the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC); or
- Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (AADC) Exam administered by IC&RC.
